MAY MERRIE

Our meeting the other evening to discuss Children and Church was well attended and a number of exciting ideas and proposals emerged. In brief we are looking to:
Family Service
To ensure that the quality of worship and involvement is maintained and enhanced we will have a Family Mass on a specified date in each half term, commencing with the Pentecost on Sunday 11th May. This will enable us to have a decent period leading up to each Family Mass for music, hymns, dramatic readings, art work etc to be planned at the Sunday School and with other groups.
Sunday School
A number of parents have offered to join a roster of helpers to take Sunday School which will have as its focus the planning and development of the Family Mass. To better enable each week’s Sunday School to engage in appropriate practice, planning and activities the children will rejoin the congregation a little later in the service, ie at the Agnes Dei rather than during the Offertory.
Parish Gardening Club
Sally Curzon is willing to organise a Parish Gardening Club for the young and young at heart. It is planned to use part of the Vicarage garden to raise items such as produce for a Harvest Festival
Sunday Mass time
A number of our younger families have raised with me the time for the main Sunday service. I have been asked could we start at 10am rather than 10.30am. I would welcome your thoughts.
Strictly Gershwin
The St Luke’s Theatre Circle have three tickets for the Strictly Gershwin song and dance spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall featuring the English National Ballet, orchestra and singers.
Tickets £44 for a performance on Wed 18th June
Music in Hospitals – Concert
A concert will be held from 2.45pm on Sunday 20th April featuring local classical musicians to raise the profile and funds for this charity. Music in Hospitals seeks to provide stimulation and entertainment for hospital residents by paying for professional musicians to play in local hospitals.
Summer Garden Fete
Yes, summer is a coming! We need to start our planning for the Parish Garden Fete on Saturday 5th July. There will be an initial meeting after Mass today but Christine Hobday would love to hear from you if you have ideas for the Garden Fete
Annual Parish Meetings
The annual parish meetings will be held on Sunday 20th April after Mass. This is an important event so please pray and give active consideration to offering your talents. The Parish needs to elect the Churchwardens and Parish Councillors to ensure that our witness, worship and outreach continues to grow.
